LPPSE develops Division/Unit of Business or BDC that it has vision to empower community and its intuition, in order to play role in development and to have capacity to solve environment problem through developing their potential and existing resources.

BDC-LPPSE has several activities by developing LPPSE’s potential to set up business as a part of institution’s fund rising with professional and commercial approach to cut dependency against funding agency or donor. LPPSE together with community make an innovation and find alternative solution to solve environment problem faced by community in Jakarta. Recently BDC - LPPSE develops program with focused to :

1. Solve the problem of stagnate and stench of drainage with chancing mud to be processed as liquid fertilizer and press concrete brick.
2. Solve waste problem through composing and recycling used paper as part of waste to become material for handicraft.
3. Introduce Information Technology (IT) and computer application to community.

For implementing the program above, BDC-LPPSE offer the program to and build cooperation with several parties, such as sub-district officer, village officer, private company, and other stake holder in form of partnership, particularly training program for community and its institution.

Training on Produce Concrete Brick and Liquid Fertilizer form Waste of Drainage

Purpose
The purpose of this activity is to increase capacity and skill of community in producing concrete brick and liquid fertilizer from waste of drainage. Furthermore the community with well trained can contribute to solve the environment problem as well as open working opportunity and business.

Training on composing and recycling used paper for handicraft

Purpose
This activity has purpose to increase capacity and skill of community in processing waste to be compos and recycling used paper as material of handicraft, in order to open business to increase community income and also to decrease the volume of waste.

Training for capacity building for key person and leader of community (RT/RW) and community institution

Purpose
The purpose of this activity is to improve capacity of key person and its institution about community development, leadership, participatory planning, communication and motivation.

Training on Computer

Purpose
This activity has purpose to improve capacity and skill of community to operate computer to help them in finishing their job and task.

Result Achievement

Division of BDC-LPPSE has set-up one of rooms in LPPSE’s office to be a showroom to promote its product, such as liquid fertilizer, press concrete brick and leaflet of training program. In the next time, BDC will place 2 unit computers to use internet as service model of Short Time Services (STS) of product. This service is only used to deliver data, letter, product picture and promotion. While service for client or customer is already in software that using of it assisted by the officer of BDC. With using this model, BDC can understand the need and want of customer easier, faster, and cheaper. Then BDC-LPPSE will open membership system for customer and client. If they have not yet had email address, they can use email address of BDC-LPPSE collectively. And BDC-LPPSE will give guaranty for member to keep letter private and confidential.

Another result is already implemented training in 2 villages in West Jakarta and 1 Cooperative in Depok. The number of training participant is around 175 people. There are several subject in the training, namely processing concrete brick and liquid fertilizer, composing and recycling used newspaper, “kriya” art, and computer.

Lesson Learn

To grow and develop BDC is not just inventories the potential owned by institution that active role in assisting community for long time. However in fact LPPSE should observe the market aspect continually that have opportunity to get profit. BDC also has barrier related with financial and human resources. The people in charge in BDC should have various skills and creativity and to run and manage BDC.
